Restoring the Old Cemetery Records in Wadi Al-Seer
Volunteers have transcribed four hundred headstones, and matched half of them to families still in the country.
Many of the oldest markers carry a name, a village of origin, and nothing else. The village is often the more useful half: it places a family on a map that no longer exists.
The transcriptions are being checked against the branch's own registers before anything is published.
